about

THE COLLECTIVE

Yoga Jubilee is a collective of yoga instructors who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BI/POC), or Allies. We established Yoga Jubilee in response to the violent deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor in 2020 and the series of tragic deaths of BI/POC individuals at the hands of law enforcement around the world.

Our Mission + Vision.
Yoga Jubilee is dedicated to transforming social tension into positive cultural change through embodied practices. We offer the opportunity for personal transformation and growth through practice, education, connection, and community. Designed to heal and to catalyze social justice, our programming is rooted in yoga and other embodied and indigenous practices. We recognize our inherent wholeness and serve all people seeking healing and liberation.

What we offer.
We offer the opportunity for personal transformation and growth through practice, education, connection, and community. Our hybrid and virtual programming is rooted in the traditional techniques of yoga and other embodied and indigenous practices. They are designed to heal and to catalyze social justice through the recognition of our inherent wholeness– mind, body, and spirit.

Who we serve.
We serve all people seeking healing and liberation through practice. We are, we welcome and we hold with respect and loving-kindness BIPOC, white allies, immigrant, LGBTQ+, multi partnered, neuro-diverse, disabled, all ages, all faiths, no faiths, all body types and mobilities, and all who have been othered.

Our commitment.
We seek to create a sustainable community through embodied practice, collaboration, learning, support, and love. We understand that for our work to be sustainable, energy exchange must be reciprocal. We offer fair compensation to instructors for their wisdom and time, at rates for students that both honor the value of the offerings and are accessible to all. We are committed to many possibilities of exchange, including fees, donations, work, and service.

Our Core Values

  • Education - providing information and conversation to help everyone have a broader and deeper understanding of the impact of our ancestors, cultures, systems and beliefs in order to effect positive change

  • Embodiment - acknowledging that trauma lives in our bodies - passed through generations - and requires embodied practices to fully heal

  • Empowerment and Support- providing information, practices and support to empower each person to achieve and expand our potential as we also lift others up

  • Justice - valuing and pursuing justice and liberty for all in all our systems, public and private

  • Wellness - prioritizing wellness in mind, body and spirit for all

  • Connection and Community - creating and nurturing a heart-centered community that is welcoming, loving and empowering for all

We are using an “earn to give” business model while we work toward non-profit status.
